Hello, my loveliest friends,
All right, everybody, officially the first wedding related post after, I say, a proper intro? Shall we start from... Well, the day I got engaged about two and a half months ago? Because, believe me, we've been together as couple for almost 9 years now and I know you don't want to hear the long story of how we first met and fell in love and etc. so let's keep it relevant. "The day we got engaged", it is.
Disclaimer: there will be lack of photographs in this post, because we were too happy we forgot to snap some pictures and had no idea what to be snapped (not even a selfie) except for my beyond surprised reaction.

An after office date
It was a normal day after office, exactly two days before my 24th birthday, me and Mr Jean Paul de Ponti decided to meet up for a weekday date at one mall nearby our neighborhood. For a dinner, perhaps, I don't really remember, but I decided to feed my bad habit by doing a retail therapy around the department store, ended up at YSL counter when my boyfriend join me.
While I was busy picking up my Rouge Volupté lipstick and the newly arrived Youth Liberator (working on reviews for those two 'cause they are ahmazing), my boyfriend signaled that he has to pick up an important phone call. He was back just in time I finished my short retail therapy session and made my way to the cashier.
We all knew that...
We will end up as husband and wife someday. We knew, all of our family and friends knew. We are absolutely aware of the facts that we are made for each other since our fourth year (please, you are allowed to go and have a good throw-up moment). We did bits of wedding planning even before we officially got engaged and people have seen me with an intertwined silver promise rings on my left ring finger that he gave on our fifth anniversary. We even knew that we are getting married once we are 25, so this is where all my annoying whine started.
You gotta understand that girls hates to feel insecure about something so important in their life, and marriage is definitely on top of the list, especially when you've been together for almost 9 freakin' year and has dreamed about your wedding day since you're merely 5 years old (the last part is me, to be honest).
So, there's always this joke between us and people happily recited it, on some points drove my fiance seriously frustrated mainly because we are about the same age and young enough to talk about marriage and on the same career level and he thinks that he has to present me a BIG diamond ring for our engagement. Seriously, Jean Paul... Seriously???
The tumbler aisle
Anyway, back to the day we got engaged. After I finalized the unexpected beauty purchase of mine, we went off to the home center store because I need to buy air freshener for the new office's car as well as a new tumbler. As mentioned, there's always this joke between us about the proposal and I usually tease him with no sign of giving up. Uhm, no, I tease him all the time! HAHA. I mean, what took him so longgg? See, I didn't ask for anything fancy, I didn't ask for gigantic diamonds, we've been dating for too long, and et cetera, et cetera... I demanded for a freakin' commitment, for goodness' sake!
It was still a normal date so far. We walked normally, we had a normal conversation, there's nothing suspicious when we enter the home center store. I went straight to the car fresheners aisle, picking my favorite pine fragrance. Just like the other good girlfriends, I asked him to pay for my IDR 10,000,- car freshener, again teasing him because he's being sooo economical for the last few weeks it drove me cray cray! He smiled and agreed to buy it for me while I walked away to the tumbler aisle to choose one cute bottle, still rambling about him being so stingy lately.
A dainty pinky-golden shine
It is just so hard to tell everything word by word, but he did follow me to the tumbler aisle, laughed at me pouting. It all happened real fast, I even haven't got the chance to grab any bottle out the shelf when he showed the delicate piece right in front my eyes, grinning as broad as he can. No box, surely he kept it safe in his jeans pocket all this time (THIS IS SO HIM!)
"Ini bukan maksudnya? Do I still have to kneel down?"
That's his proposal. That's that.
And I squeal once I made sure there's no one watching us. I could see I glimpse of relief on his happy eyes.

There you go. He managed to shot my reaction after he put the ring on. I'm just... Beyond happy and more than surprised. Well, I tried hard not to cry, but when you can own the way your fiance proposed... #Blessed.
Confession time
1. Damn Plan A
At first, he planned to have our photographer friend to capture the special moment, until he changed his mind last minute and decided to make it official on the most unplanned and unexpected timing (he was surprised himself because he planned to do it once we back home, it's like something just made him do it on spot without thinking what would happen next). Stacks of lunch boxes behind me are proofs!
2. Fresh from the oven
This is definitely one of the reason why he took so long: he ordered a new, customized engagement ring! Gosh, I think this is why my engagement ring is my most favorite piece of jewelry. He knows I love rose gold and look good in rose gold. He knows I love a humble solitaire with simple round cut. He knows that I actually want a dainty and small engagement ring so I can use it in everyday basis rather than a big one that I need to keep safe at home.
And the ring is literally fresh from the oven as he took it from the jeweler not more than an hour before he proposed.
3. Asking for my parents blessing
Remember that I mentioned he gotta pick an important phone call when I did the retail therapy? Turns out he gotta MADE an important phone call. How brave is this guy, he asked for my parents blessing by phone! Good thing it didn't get him into troubles and my parents surely blesses us :D
On the other side, he didn't ask for his parents blessing to propose me until he met them later that night, this crazy boy.

So that's the story of the proposal, guys. I know, it's another longgg post, but I haven't got tired to tell the happy story to everyone who wants to hear it (though I know people get bored already haha).
Well, I guess it's only proper to start the whole journey with the thrilling tale, yes? Hope you guys approve!
Wrap it up now, I'll see you on the next post.
Love,
P
