Hi, everyone,
Lipstick, as you all may already knew by now, is one of my holy grail beauty item. I believe it was the first cosmetic I played with when I was little. Yes, I only have a pair of lips and people did ask me why do I keep buying lipstick. Gosh, I tell you what: there's just specific moments in my life when I wanna be in corals or reds or nudes or not to forget pinks...
And this is where the pink family of Maybelline ColorSensational Lipcolor came to color my days.

And this is where the pink family of Maybelline ColorSensational Lipcolor came to color my days.
To be honest, once I had an old Maybelline lipstick, I can't remember the name but it's in red packaging. Trust me, that particular range was sucks: it didn't have any staying power, it wasn't pigmented, ugly packaging—just nothing special. Then they launched the ColorSensational range so I decided to give Maybelline lipstick another try and... Oh my Lord, I never knew I can love drugstore lipstick this much!
Here's the claim on their website:
WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT
Fall in love with color, all over again:
• Crisper color from pure pigments
• Creamier feel from nourishing honey nectar
• Lipcolor so rich, so stunning…it’s sensational
• 68 captivating shades
So the ColorSensational has four color category, represented on the packaging (which I love): purples, reds, nudes, and pinks. I haven't try the first three as I was in the need of pink lipstick, but this is an absolutely amazing product! In my opinion, Maybelline can sell more than just four pointers and I'm being real.
My infatuation?
The scent
I love summery smell and I really like the ColorSensational's. It reminds me a lot to coconut, suncreen and tanning oil! I think this is the thing that attracted me the most.
The pigmentation
You can build it up, from sheer to full coverage.
The moisturizing power
I don't really have to use lip balm prior to the lipstick application, it's super moist!
The finish
Honestly, I prefer sheen-finish (not glossy) lip product rather than matte except for bold color like red and somehow these babies will add perfect dimension to your lips, makes your lips look sculpted, fuller and healthy.

Let's just take a moment to adore the pigmentation as well as the iridescent glow, ladies, and imagine how smooth and pretty they are on your lips.
So I have three colors so far and there you go the swatches with harsh flash (2 swipes each), from left to right: 155 Party Pink, the sultry berry-tone pink; 055 Pinkalicious, the fresh corally-pink; and 135 Make Me Pink, the sweet lilac-pink.
Whew, that's a lot of "pink".
My favorite? Well, it's actually depends on the season, hence here I created face charts to give you further glimpse on how and when do I like to wear my pink lipsticks.

At first I wasn't sure about 135 Make Me Pink 'cause it's on the cooler tone which gonna be harder to match it with my skin tone. But then, I love to wear it for Spring time with sweet-colored eyeshadow such as pink or purple, go with paler foundation, rosy cheeks and minimum contour.
Then to 055 Pinkalicious for Summer time, paired with a combination of earthy-tone eyeshadow and pop of color on your eyes. Oh, all right, probably this is my favorite shade as it's just my color, coral never goes wrong on me! It goes well with my skin tone, with contour and bronzer, just my overall style. Specifically for this shade, though, it has super subtle shimmery particle in it, but it hardly shows up on your lips.
The last but of course not the least, 155 Party Pink. Bolder, I think it's perfect for Autumn, combined with brown or taupe eyeshadow, contour and thick lashes. I found it hard to rock this color at the beginning, again it is on the cool side and the berry-purple tone will make me look older. However, for some reason, this is a great look for night out. The color of the lipstick will bring everything together and it is such a pretty color, classic yet glamorous.
And here we come to the pros and cons:
Why should I keep buying these lovelies?
The downside?
Repurchase? DEFINITELY! I am a sucker for moisturizing lipstick and they have so many colors thus this ColorSensational range is gonna be my pick for drugstore lipstick.
So, girls, go get it! Way to go, Maybelline!
Love,
P
And here we come to the pros and cons:
Why should I keep buying these lovelies?
- The scent, oh, I can't get enough of the summery, tanning oil-type of scent. It somehow emphasizes the nourishing honey nectar extract in it, instantly giving the impression that these lipsticks has nature's benefit
- Great pigmentation
- Smooth and creamy texture, it literally glides on like dream with minimal tugging in each application. Super easy to use
- Speaking of creamy texture, I still don't know how to explain it, but this lipstick will instantly give that sculpted lips look! Just magically add dimension to your lips
- Very buildable
- Does not feather. You know, the moment when the lipstick give the impression of "bleeding" lips, they just don't do it
- Absolutely moisturizing
- OK-looking packaging. I know it doesn't look luxurious, but it doesn't look cheap at all. The different color coordinator giving the impression of gem stones and actually, the see-through plastic tube reminds me to the Dior Addict lipstick
- Numerous shades and I love how they categorized it into several color collection
- Typical daily lipstick. I mean, it's a drugstore brand, very affordable (I think the retail price is no more than IDR 70,000), so you would love to have these lipstick everywhere you could reach as you'll be happy to slab this back on your lips for several times a day, just like the way you do with lipbalm
The downside?
- Lasting power... Meh... Probably one hour. Two hours maximum. As I say I use this lipstick daily, I normally touch my lips up before my business meetings. The moment I packed my notes and laptop, shook hands with my partners, stepped out of the room and get back to check on the mirror, everything has gone (drinking included, by the way)
- It will easily transfer on anything that touch your lips so... Kisser's first world problem
Repurchase? DEFINITELY! I am a sucker for moisturizing lipstick and they have so many colors thus this ColorSensational range is gonna be my pick for drugstore lipstick.
