Let's be honest, everybody has a little secret. The good and the bad. Sometimes, even the good one is embarrassing. Today, I'm gonna confess mine.
I love writing romance and I have three stories done so far, five of them are on-going and I want to see people read them some time in the future. I want to be a great novelist apart from makeup guru and actress.
There. I've confessed.
Yes, I love writing so much and I started when I was in junior high, approximately when I was thirteen. I love romance and creating some is absolutely enjoyable. A couple or three of them ended up in a trash, though, as I'm too embarrassed to re-read them. I don't understand why people telling me to keep writing, no matter how dramatic and awkward the stories are.
I found the answer a few days ago in this heartwarming and genius video campaign by Dove...

Now, some of you guys might already aware that I'm currently working at a branding consultancy firm as the Marketing & Sales person, so talking about Dove and seeing it as a brand—it's freakin' powerful. Consistent, distinct... Dove speaks about its soul beautifully. Long story short, they are always able to communicate what real beauty is: it's not only what you see on the outside, but something greater lives in the inside.
So what am I trying to relate here? Dove Real Beauty Sketches video and my little secret?
To explain it in words, for me it would be very complex but I'll try a bit though I know you guys understood.
When Sebastian from the Little Mermaid said "the seaweed is always greener in somebody else's place", I think he's right. Some people said this is being ungrateful, but looking onto the bright side, I think this is one form of appreciating other's.
The question is: what about appreciating yourself?
Somebody's seaweed might be greener, but aren't yours looking quite healthy, too? I mean, you did take good care of them, didn't you? And—if I'm not mistaken, you can make a delicious seaweed salad as well. Oh, I love salad, especially when there are tasty seaweed involved!
See where am I heading to? True, the right amount of self-esteem.
Be confident with your self. Be happy with what you have. Embrace your life. Sometimes people have things they wanna bury in the deepest point of the earth—well, they can always do it, but... Rather than hide it there, why not try to find the positive side and show it to the world?
You might hate your big lips--other women did lips injection to plump theirs.
You might hate your dark-tone skin--people paid so much to do spray-tanning on their pale complexion.
You might feel like no-one at school—actually, you are very good at history and it's easier for your friend to memorize the subject when you re-tell the complex story of World War II.
You might think you are a freak, you rarely go to clubs or parties—your in-laws thinks you are a good lady.
You might think you are not good at working with professionals—but you are a multi-talented housewife, and your kids said you are the best mom in the world.
What about me? I have prominent and quite long jaw-line, people suggest me to do plastic surgery—my boyfriend thinks I look like a woman with character and he won't see the same girl he asked for a date eight years ago if decided to reduce my jaw to normal size :D
And I will keep on writing romance... I want to see people read my stories...
Fix things, appreciate more...
Where are you heading now?
Love,
P
