Hello, my loveliest friends,
Yes, you're on the Bride's Notebook, and yes, you're also on a beauty related review. No kidding, guys, I will jam those two things together and create what they call Bridal Beauty. First time.
In this post I will share my experience at Mint Day Spa & Salon. Again, sorry for procrastinating, but I went there almost a month ago now. I received the invitation from Ms Delphine (one of the owner) last April, but I was so busy at that moment, hence I decided to come once I have the chance, which is exactly 1 day before our family engagement when all of the craziness has calmed down (for a while, at least). Best. Decision.
So Mint Spa is located at Central Jakarta and it basically offers one of the heaven on earth (you know, they do many things from the regular salon services, waxing, eyelashes extension, even my favorite gel manicure). However, I was invited by the very kind Ms Delphine to experience their special Korean spa. Yes, Korean, everybody, who loves Korean drama and K-Pop...? Well, I don't (don't hate me, I just don't HAHA), but I finally found another Korean-thingy that I like apart from the yummy and delicious Korean BBQ.
OK, I've said too many Koreans by now, so let me get to further details. One thing you gotta know in advance: I thought Korean spa is just like the other common spa. It is not. It is NOT, and it is designated for LADIES ONLY. I'll tell you why in a mo'.

So the signage on the photo above is the first thing I saw once I stepped out of the elevator. Next, this corridor took me to the reception, hence I can confirm my reservation. A young lady soon escorted me to a tiled-covered room with lockers and changing cubicles. I could see a sauna door and several glass door rowing towards the back of the room before the lady whose in-charge to take care of me handed me a tube coverup, a paper thong, and a shower cap (which I discarded right away because I've put my hair in messy French braid and I hate the feel of shower cap on my head).
In 3 mins I've changed and ready for the starter of the treatment: traditional sauna.

I personally love sauna, even since I was younger. I enjoyed the heat and the sweat and I suppose by letting the steam opening up your pores, it will make the scrubbing part less painful. Mint Spa's sauna room is obviously new, it's vast and super clean (a bit dry for a traditional sauna in my opinion). I should be in there for 15 minutes, but I decided to stay longer because I hardly sweat for the first 7 minutes (I guess because the room is too big for just one me).
Done with sauna, not sweating crazily but indeed feeling hot, I was escorted to one of the room with glass door.

And this, everybody, this is the room that explains why the treatment is for LADIES ONLY because you will lay naked on that white bed when the beautician bathe you.
Yes, you read it right: you'll be completely naked (except for the thong) and the beautician will bathe almost every inch of you. By the end of your session, you'll find the thong useless anyway.
No joke, ladies, even they will scrub your armpits, basically everywhere except your feminine area. It does sound scary for some girls, I know, but trust me it's gonna be worth the shame. I wasn't scared = I have no shame = I got beautiful, smooth, and clean skin in return. Anyway, you and I are not the first people they seen naked, right?
So the most unique thing about this Korean spa is they will exfoliate your skin with some sort of harsh mitt (which is imported directly from Korea), starting from your feet to your neck. Guys, I showered twice a day, I use loofah and good amount of soap for each bath, technically I should be clean. I know this is a very TMI post, however, when the lady started to scrub me, I could see humongous chunks of dirt and dead skin cells coming off my skin. Gosh, it was very satisfying (as if I'm losing 2 kg off my weight)! I'm getting weirder, I know, but you'll feel the same if you were me. As you'll be scrubbed, not gonna lie, it's gonna be painful. No worries, though, if I can handle it, you'll be able to. It's a very tolerable pain. Ask the beautician to lessen the pressure if you can't stand it, though.
After the rubbing session, you'll get some nice hot water wash before you proceed to the real scrub and message, again all over your body. They also imported the scrub from Korea, it smells very calming too. Believe me or not, I almost fell asleep during this session, between all of the scrubbing and message.
Finally, they will bathe you with splashes of milk all over. It was the first time I had real milk bath.

These are the equipment they used for Korean spa (minus the hot water and soap, but you got the drill).
See the harsh texture on the cloth? They are excelent at exfoliating, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process.
Done with the treatment, I finally got a chance to clean myself and wash my hair. The whole process took about 2 hours and I noticed that my skin was no longer red, yet very sensitive. They offered me to blow dry and style my hair as well at their salon.
Why do I fell in love with this Korean Spa?
As I said, I'm not a big fan of Korean trend, but I'm lovin' this treatment! It will for sure leave you skin ultra smooth and clear (just like Korean Ladies' skin and I'm not exaggerating). It will effectively remove your dead skin cells caused by pollution, age, and even your soap and any other body products. With "new", smoother skin, moisturizer will be absorbed better, nourishing your skin. No more dull skin = looking radiant on my engagement day!

A glimpse of their salon.
Coming back, for sure, this is a perfect treatment for all bride-to-be! Who doesn't want to look glowing on their special days (your engagement and pre-wedding days included)?
The whole treatment cost just under IDR 300,000,- and I must say this is a very good price (way cheaper than my usual traditional spa) as it give you instant result. This treatment is recommended to be taken once every 2 weeks, depending on your daily activities.
You guys gotta check them out. Again, thank you Mint Spa for the generous invitation!
Love,
P
